Raphael Tuju Detained Moments After Public Reappearance
NAIROBI, KENYA – The mystery surrounding Raphael Tuju’s 36-hour disappearance took a volatile turn on Monday afternoon as the former Cabinet Secretary was forcibly detained by authorities shortly after emerging to explain his whereabouts.
The arrest, confirmed by high-profile lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, occurred in a high-tension scene moments after Tuju concluded a press conference.

Despite visible concerns regarding his physical health, security forces reportedly bundled the former Jubilee Party Secretary-General into a police vehicle, insisting on his immediate transfer to the station for questioning.

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who was present during the escalation, expressed outrage over the police tactics. Musyoka revealed that DCI officers had earlier barricaded Tuju’s residence, preventing anyone from leaving until the former CS was in their custody.

"I personally drove him to Karen Police Station in the spirit of due process and good faith," Musyoka stated. "What followed was unacceptable. Hon. Tuju was carried away in a manner that no Kenyan—no human being—should ever experience."

By Monday afternoon, the situation at the Karen Police Station devolved into a chaotic standoff. Tuju’s legal team, led by Ndegwa Njiru, raised a frantic alarm over his safety and welfare, describing the police's actions as an attempted "abduction."

"Mark that vehicle! They want to abduct him," Njiru was heard shouting to observers outside the station. "The manner in which they took him is entirely unacceptable."

As of Monday evening, Raphael Tuju remains in police custody. His legal team is demanding immediate medical attention for the former CS, citing a "worrying" decline in his health status following the weekend's events.
