MP Robert Mbui Raises Alarm as Kenya Grapples With Wave of Abductions and Mysterious Deaths
Kathiani Member of Parliament and National Assembly Deputy Minority Leader Robert Mbui has raised serious concern over what he describes as a growing national crisis involving abductions, disappearances, and unexplained deaths across the country.
Speaking on the matter, Mbui warned that Kenya is witnessing an increasingly disturbing trend where individuals reportedly go missing, only for their bodies to later be discovered in different parts of the country. He said the pattern has created fear and uncertainty among citizens, especially in affected regions.
According to the legislator, recent incidents have been reported in areas such as Kitui and even within his own constituency, further deepening public anxiety. He noted that families continue to suffer distress as some missing persons are found dead while others remain unaccounted for without clear explanations from authorities.
“This issue of abductions and disappearances is really a major problem in this country. In fact, soon after people disappear or are abducted, we have started seeing bodies appearing in different parts of the country,” Mbui said.
He further questioned the effectiveness of investigations into such cases, arguing that many reports either take too long to resolve or fail to produce clear answers. Mbui insisted that Kenyans deserve transparency and accountability, especially when it comes to matters involving life and security.
The MP also emphasized the need for a coordinated national system that can help track missing persons more effectively, suggesting that timely information sharing could help locate individuals before situations escalate.
“We must as a country come up with a way for anyone who gets lost, that information can reach all and sundry so that the person can be found,” he said, adding that both innocent disappearances and suspected abductions require urgent attention.
His remarks come amid growing concern from religious leaders, human rights groups, and civil society organizations who have called for thorough investigations into enforced disappearances and alleged extrajudicial killings.
Mbui has further warned that failure to address the issue decisively could undermine public trust in security institutions and weaken the rule of law. He stressed that the matter transcends politics and directly affects the safety and constitutional rights of all Kenyans.
As pressure mounts, citizens continue to demand answers and stronger action from authorities as the country confronts rising fears over safety and accountability.
