Gachagua Warns ODM NDC Is a “Last Supper,” Alleges Plot to Hand Party to Ruto
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has sharply criticized the upcoming National Delegates Conference (NDC) of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), terming it a decisive and potentially defining moment for the party’s future.

Speaking ahead of the conference scheduled for Friday, Gachagua described the meeting as the party’s “last supper,” warning members against what he perceives as a looming political takeover. He urged ODM supporters to remain vigilant and resist any attempts that could compromise the party’s independence.

Gachagua cautioned that allowing President William Ruto to exert influence over the party would undermine its legacy, which he attributed to longtime ODM leader Raila Odinga. He emphasized that ODM represents not just a political outfit, but a symbol of identity and unity, particularly for the Luo Nyanza region.

According to Gachagua, any alignment that could see ODM being “swallowed” by the ruling administration would have far-reaching consequences for its supporters. He warned that such a move could leave the region politically vulnerable, drawing parallels to his own political experiences.

“The people of that region will be at his mercy, and they will come to cry the way we are crying,” Gachagua claimed, adding that the responsibility now lies with ODM members to safeguard the party’s future.

His remarks come amid heightened political activity and speculation surrounding possible realignments within Kenya’s political landscape, as parties position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.
