Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has announced that a specialized team of international IT volunteers is working to revive the Linda Mwananchi website following a series of crippling cyberattacks that took the platform offline over the weekend.
The website, which serves as a digital hub for the burgeoning Linda Mwananchi movement, was temporarily suspended on Saturday after what Sifuna described as "thousands of malicious attacks." The movement, led by a faction of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), aims to register and mobilize citizens ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a church service in Meru County on Sunday, the Senator—who remains a central figure in a power struggle within ODM—revealed that tech experts from London, Washington, and other parts of the USA have stepped in to secure the site.
The Senator linked the digital disruption directly to the state, vowing that the revamped portal would be "hack-proof" upon its relaunch, which is scheduled for Monday, March 16.
