The (NPS) has appealed for calm and restraint following a wave of deadly retaliatory attacks in Tseikuru Sub-county, .
In a statement, the police condemned the violence, warning that the incidents reflect a troubling cycle of revenge attacks between two rival communities. Authorities noted that the pattern of escalating confrontations risks further loss of life if not urgently addressed.
“The chronology of criminal attacks points to a pattern of retaliatory violence involving two communities, which must not only be condemned but also stopped immediately,” the statement said.
Security agencies have since heightened operations in the area, deploying additional personnel to restore order and prevent further clashes. The NPS emphasized that those responsible for the violence will be pursued and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Residents have been urged to cooperate with security officers, avoid incitement, and report any suspicious activity. Police also called on community leaders to take an active role in promoting dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
The latest incidents underscore growing concerns over recurring inter-community conflicts in parts of Kitui, with authorities now prioritizing long-term stability measures alongside immediate security interventions.
