The vaccine candidate, ChAdOx1 BDBV, is being developed through a partnership involving the University of Oxford, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), and the Serum Institute of India. The initiative aims to address a critical gap in global health preparedness, as no licensed vaccine currently exists for the Bundibugyo variant.

Although India has not recorded any Ebola cases, authorities have enhanced disease surveillance and strengthened preparedness measures at points of entry and healthcare facilities.
