DCP Names John Methu Secretary General Designate as Gachagua Announces New NEC Appointments

DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua has announced a series of key appointments within the party, including the designation of John Methu as Secretary General. These changes are part of the party's efforts to expand its national footprint amidst recent electoral challenges.

Gachagua Clashes with Electoral Irregularities

Gachagua claimed that the Dikirr by-election was ultimately a victory for his party if not for widespread bribery and intimidation, which he alleges are ongoing tactics used to influence election outcomes. Despite these claims, he expressed gratitude to supporters and vowed to confront these electoral malpractices.

He further criticized the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, accusing it of failing to remove UDA members from the party’s register, which he suggests undermines fair political competition.

New Leadership and Expansion of DCP

The National Executive Council appointed Leonard Cheruiyot as Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock, while Abdi Noor Mohammed was named chairperson for Northern representation. Wilson Kanyagu Ndungu from Daystar University is the new youth caucus representative. Gachagua also announced John Methu of Nyandarua as the future Secretary General, tasked with leading the party's campaign for upcoming elections, including the Ol Kalou by-election.

The party's membership registration is reportedly robust, with over 4.5 million members and hundreds of aspirants vying for various elective seats across the country, signaling a growing influence in Kenyan politics.
