A section of Kenya Kwanza leaders has criticized the planned June 25 protests, calling on Kenyans to prioritize peace, unity, and development instead of engaging in demonstrations.

Speaking during a public event in Malava, Kakamega County, President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet accused opposition leaders of exploiting the constitutional right to picket for political purposes. He maintained that the country’s focus should remain on development and national cohesion.

“We want leaders who match their words with action. Kenyans need development, peace, and unity,” said Kibet.

Kibwezi West MP Hon. Mwengi Mutuse urged Kenyans to avoid participating in the planned protests, arguing that the country should be allowed to focus on economic growth and stability.

“I have heard that they are planning demonstrations on the 25th of this month. I urge Kenyans not to participate in the protests.

Those organizing them should be ready to take responsibility instead of mobilizing other people’s children while keeping their own families away,” said Mutuse.

Kitutu Chache North MP Hon. Japheth Nyakundi also cautioned against any actions that could disrupt the daily lives of citizens. He noted that many Kenyans are eager to work and improve their livelihoods in a peaceful environment.

Taveta MP Hon. John Bwire challenged opposition leaders to present alternative policies and solutions if they intend to compete politically with President William Ruto.

“If you want to compete with President William Ruto, come with a clear agenda and policies that can convince Kenyans.Leadership is about offering solutions and ideas, not empty rhetoric,” said Bwire.

At the same event, Senate Majority Leader Sen. Aaron Cheruiyot commended Members of Parliament for overwhelmingly supporting the Finance Bill 2026, saying some of its provisions are designed to benefit local farmers.

Cheruiyot highlighted measures aimed at regulating sugar imports, arguing that increased protection for locally produced sugar would improve returns for Kenyan sugarcane farmers.

He also urged leaders from the Western region to continue supporting President Ruto, expressing confidence that the region would receive similar political backing from other parts of the country when its turn comes to seek national leadership.
